Privacy Policy

Last updated: 26 July 2026

Family Office Networks (“FON,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates FON Marketplace at mp.fon.network — a private directory of family offices, high net worth individuals, and the professionals who serve them, together with an opportunities board for members (the “Marketplace”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. The Marketplace is a separate service from fon.network, which has its own privacy policy.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Request Access details — when you apply for access, we collect your first and last name, email address, and the message you write to us, along with an optional telephone number and postal code. You also tell us which description best fits you, your primary interest, any further interests you tick, and whether you would like to receive The FON Briefing or the FON Luxury Edition.
  • Account details — your display name, first and last name, email address, and a password, which we store only as a cryptographic hash. There is no self-registration on the Marketplace; accounts are created by us after we review a request for access.
  • Board enquiries — the enquiry form on a listing is open to signed-in members only, and it arrives pre-filled with the display name and email address held on your account. You can edit both before sending, and the recipient sees only what you send. We store your name, email address, organization, and message, together with the listing concerned, the time, the IP address our server sees, and your member account number — so our own copy of an enquiry is linked to your account even if you change the name and address on the form. If you tick “send me a copy,” that copy goes to your account email address rather than to anything typed into the form.

Information collected automatically

  • Technical data recorded with form submissions — with each Request Access submission we record the IP address the request came from, your browser’s user-agent string, the referring page, and the time. The IP address and user-agent are also included in the notification email sent to our team. Enquiries sent through the opportunities board record the IP address as our server sees it, which — because the Marketplace sits behind a content delivery network — is often the network’s own address rather than yours.
  • Session records — while you are signed in, WordPress stores the expiry time, IP address, and user-agent of each active session token. These are removed when the session expires or you sign out.
  • Saved and recently viewed items — the Marketplace records the profiles and listings you save, and the last thirty records you opened, each with the time you opened it. Your recently viewed history is behavioural data: it shows which individual profiles you looked at and when. You can clear it at any time from your account.
  • Server logs — our hosting provider keeps standard web-server access logs. These include IP addresses and requested URLs, and therefore any terms you type into the directory search box.

We do not run advertising or analytics trackers on the Marketplace: there is no analytics script, no advertising pixel, and no CAPTCHA service on any Marketplace page. The Marketplace itself keeps no record of your sign-ins or of failed sign-in attempts, although the web-server logs described above will show the requests. Note that fon.network, our parent site, does use analytics and reCAPTCHA and is covered by its own policy.

2. Cookies

The Marketplace sets only the cookies it needs to work, and all of them are first-party:

  • wordpress_logged_in_… and wordpress_sec_… — WordPress authentication cookies that keep you signed in.
  • wordpress_test_cookie — a short-lived cookie that checks whether your browser accepts cookies at all.
  • wp-settings-… — remembers interface preferences for members who can reach the WordPress admin screens.
  • _lscache_vary — set by our page cache so that pages cached for signed-out visitors are never served to a signed-in member.

There are no advertising, analytics, or cross-site tracking cookies on the Marketplace, and we do not use cookies to build a profile of your browsing. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but blocking these will prevent you from signing in.

3. Information we hold about people in the directories

The Marketplace exists so that members can research family offices, high net worth individuals, and the professionals who serve them. Most of the information in the directories is therefore about people and organizations who are not members and who did not give it to us directly. It was compiled from Family Office Networks’ own records and from publicly available sources, collected in accordance with those sources’ terms of service. We think you are entitled to a plain account of what that means.

  • Individual wealth profiles — 37,710 records on named individuals. A record may include name and salutation, age and gender, mailing address, city, state, postal code and country, personal and business email addresses and telephone numbers, LinkedIn and X handles, a primary-residence marker, and a set of wealth, asset, and philanthropy indicators: estimated net worth, investable assets, income, real-estate value and number of properties, direct stock holdings and their total value, company sales volume, accredited-investor status, aircraft and yacht ownership, trust, annuity and bequest indicators, estimated charitable and political giving, gift capacity, nonprofit board service, and a propensity-to-give score with a short written description.
  • Family office records — 2,051 organizations, with street address, telephone and fax numbers, website, year founded, assets under management, areas of interest and investment interests, and a general contact address.
  • Professional profiles — 1,530 named individuals working at those firms, with role, employer, an email address, a telephone number, and a LinkedIn profile.

Record counts are accurate as at the date above. The great majority of the people described above are not members, did not give us this information, did not sign up for anything, and have not been individually notified that we hold a record about them. [Counsel to advise on whether and how notice must be given — see “Legal bases” below.]

How this information is restricted. The directories are not public. Anyone who is not signed in is redirected to the sign-in page, and the same check is applied to the site’s API, search results, and feeds; the directories are also excluded from the site’s sitemap. Directory records are therefore not reachable by search engines or by anonymous automated requests. Members are bound by our Terms of Use, which prohibit exporting, reselling, or redistributing directory information, and prohibit using it for unsolicited marketing.

Contact details are held but not shown. Mailing addresses, email addresses, and telephone numbers in the individual, family-office, and professional records are currently suppressed on Marketplace profile pages — the pages display the profile without them. We still hold this information, and we may choose to display it to members in future; if we do, we will update this policy before making the change.

Suppression instructions. Where a record carries a do-not-mail instruction, the Marketplace shows that instruction prominently on the profile and again beside the mailing address. Members are required to honor it. Roughly 4,900 of the individual records currently carry that flag.

If you are recorded in one of our directories — how to have your record removed. You do not have to be a member, and you do not have to give a reason. You may ask us to:

  • send you a copy of the record we hold about you;
  • correct anything in it that is wrong;
  • stop using it for a particular purpose, or add a do-not-contact flag; or
  • delete the record entirely.

Email andy@fonmc.com with enough detail to identify the record — your name, and the city or firm we are likely to have recorded. We do not operate a self-service portal; these requests are handled by a person. We will acknowledge your request, act on it, and tell you what we have done. [Confirm this mailbox is monitored for Marketplace requests; set an internal turnaround target; and put in place a suppression list so that a deleted record is not reintroduced by a later third-party data refresh — no such mechanism exists today.]

4. How we use information

  • To review requests for access and decide whether to offer membership. We email you an acknowledgement when your request reaches us, and we email the details to our own team.
  • To create, secure, and support member accounts.
  • To operate the directories and the opportunities board, including routing enquiries to the correct recipient.
  • To remember what you have saved and recently viewed.
  • To record which newsletters you asked for. The Marketplace does not send newsletters itself and does not subscribe you automatically — your preference is passed to our team and acted on by hand.
  • To protect the Marketplace — rate limiting, preventing abuse, and investigating misuse. This is why we record IP addresses alongside form submissions.
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.

5. Legal bases

The Marketplace is operated from the United States, is directed to a United States audience, and the directories describe organisations and individuals in the United States. The directories do not include organisations or individuals in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland: records identified as relating to those jurisdictions have been withdrawn from the directories and are no longer displayed, searchable, or otherwise available to members. A number of those records are retained in our systems in an unpublished state; we do not admit members from those jurisdictions. We handle information on the basis of operating and securing the service, administering your membership, the consent you give when you opt into a newsletter (which you may withdraw at any time), and where the law requires us to retain or disclose it.

6. How we share information

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We share it only:

  • With service providers who work on our behalf — principally our hosting provider, which also carries outbound email for the Marketplace. [Confirm a data-processing agreement is in place with each provider.]
  • Through enquiry routing — when you send an enquiry about a listing, your name, organization, email address, and message go to the contact address we hold for that listing. We take that address from our own records and never from the form, so the Marketplace cannot be used to reach an address of a sender’s choosing.
  • For legal reasons — to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, or protect our rights, our members, and the public.
  • In a business transfer — if FON is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
  • With your consent — for anything else.

7. Data retention

We keep information for as long as we need it to run the Marketplace and to meet legal, accounting, or reporting obligations. You should know that we do not currently apply automated retention limits: access requests, board enquiries, and directory records stay in place until we delete them, and deletion is a manual step. Short-lived working data does expire on its own: the counters we use for rate limiting are discarded within an hour, and the temporary copy of your form input that lets us hand your text back to you after a validation error is discarded within thirty minutes for a request for access, and within five minutes for a board enquiry. We are reviewing our retention practice and will state fixed periods here once they are settled. [Set and document retention periods.]

8. Security

The measures in place today are:

  • The Marketplace is served over HTTPS.
  • Passwords are stored only as salted hashes. Nobody at FON can read your password, and changing your email address or password requires your current password.
  • Every directory page, API route, search result, and feed sits behind an authentication check — the content is genuinely withheld, not merely hidden from the menu.
  • Public forms are rate limited by IP address and protected against automated submission.
  • Enquiry recipients are read from our own records, so the Marketplace cannot be used to relay mail to an arbitrary address.
  • Outbound email is sent over an authenticated, encrypted connection.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your choices & rights

  • Your account — you can change your display name, first and last name, email address, and password at any time from your account page.
  • Saved and recently viewed — you can clear your recently viewed history and remove any saved item yourself, from your account page. To have your whole account closed and removed, contact us; there is no self-service account deletion at present.
  • Newsletters — the Marketplace only records the preference you gave when you asked for access; it does not subscribe you by itself. FON’s newsletters are sent from fon.network and each one carries an unsubscribe link. To change your preference before then, contact us.
  • Access, correction & deletion — you may request a copy of, correction to, or deletion of your personal information, whether you are a member or a person recorded in one of our directories.
  • Regional rights — depending on where you live (for example, California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have additional rights, including the right to opt out of certain processing. We honor applicable rights.

To exercise any of these, email andy@fonmc.com. We will acknowledge your request and respond within the period required by the law that applies to you.

10. Children

The Marketplace is a professional service and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and we do not knowingly hold directory records about minors. If you believe we hold information about a child, contact us and we will remove it.

11. International users

The Marketplace is operated from and hosted in the United States, and is intended for a United States audience. If you access it from elsewhere, you do so on your own initiative and you understand that your information will be processed in the United States.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version here and update the “Last updated” date above.

13. Contact

Questions about this policy, or about a record we hold? Email andy@fonmc.com — the same address fon.network uses for privacy enquiries — or write to us through the contact form on fon.network.
